Reduce Bruising and Swelling and Speed Recovery after Liposuction
Liposuction Swelling and Bruising
Liposuction is now the third most popular cosmetic procedure, with almost 204,000 surgeries performed in 2010, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgery. A surgeon removes fat from certain areas of the body (e.g., thighs, abdomen, buttocks, face) by liquefying it and suctioning it out through a narrow tube or needle. After liposuction, swelling and bruising are a common occurrence, since the procedure does cause the body significant trauma. SINECCH™ was clinically proven to reduce post-operative liposuction swelling and bruising in a 2002 study.
In that study, liposuction surgeries in 29 female patients aged 18–45 were performed by the same surgeon. All of the patients had liposuction of the central areas of the body: the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs. The amount of fat removed from each patient was measured. Similar amounts of fat were taken from the patients in both the SINECCH™ and placebo groups. Photographs were then taken of the patients from the front, rear, left, and right sides at post-operative weeks 1, 2, 3, and 4. Independent plastic surgeons with experience in liposuction were then asked to rank the 29 patients’ photo sets from most to least bruising and swelling at each post-op week.
SINECCH™ Use Significantly Reduced Liposuction Swelling and Bruising
The probability (P)-values for three independent plastic surgeons were P<0.006, P<0.003, and P<0 .0001 in favor of SINECCH™ reducing liposuction bruising and liposuction swelling. This means that the SINECCH™ patients had dramatically less bruising and swelling than the placebo group patients. In fact, almost all of the patients who took the placebo had more bruising than any of the SINECCH™ patients. The surgeon who performed all the liposuction surgeries reported that he was astonished to see that three patients, all in the SINECCH™ group, had no bruising or swelling seven days after the surgery when they returned for their first follow-up visit and were photographed. The surgeon had been in practice for many years and had never seen or heard of such rapid smooth recoveries from liposuction.
This study was presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in April 2002.
I have noted a marked decrease in post-operative swelling and bruising in patients who have taken SINECCH™. The results are present with all procedures including facial surgery, liposuction, and breast surgery. Patients have been pleased, and no adverse effects have been seen.
